The dog Eddie on the T.V. show Frasier is a Jack Russell Terrier. A Jack Russell Terrier saved five New Zealand children from being attacked by two pit bulls in 2007. Jack Russell Terriers are descended from fox terriers bred by Rev. John Russell in England in the early 1800s. Rev. Russell's Terrier, Trump, was depicted in a painting commissioned by Edward VII, Prince of Wales, who was a friend of the parson.
