This 'cutie patootie' is a 4-yr-old terrier mix who was owner-surrendered to a high-kill shelter in South Louisiana. Volunteers at this shelter fell in love with him and immediately took him into foster care. The lady who is fostering him has 5 small dogs of her own and she said when he saw them for the first time, he wagged his tail and greeted them all as if he had known them his whole life! Weighing under 10 lbs, he was a little underweight so she is fattening him up a bit. She is also working with him on a leash as that seems new to him. He also doesn't know what to do with toys. Oreo will bark with excitement when he sees his foster after she returns from an errand, but, other than that, she says he is NOT a barker. He loves all people but has not been tested with cats as yet. He is very athletic and loves his morning runs in the backyard to chase squirrels. So far, the only flaw Oreo seems to possess is that he is afraid of storms. On these occasions, he seems to take solace in his crate. Oreo is housebroken, crate trained, neutered, HW negative, and current on vaccinations. We believe he would make an excellent companion for almost anyone, although, as with most terriers, small children may not be a good fit. When asked if she thought Oreo would be happy moving to a northern clime, the foster replied, 'Oreo will be happy wherever there is a loving heart and a warm lap!' If Oreo sounds like the dog for you, please copy and paste this link to your web browser to fill out our online application, http://members.petfinder.com/~CT243/sampleform.html. Full vetting included in his $225 application fee. Transport from the south is an additional $185 paid directly to our licensed transporter. Arrangements will be made and they arrive every other week! (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 17-06-23-00140Lucy (female)|
Lucy is a gentle, cuddly 13 year old grand dame. I am fostering her short term. She was with previous owner until the birth of two children changed her family's priorities drastically. She integrated without a hitch into a three dog household consisting of one English Shepard, one Flat Coated Retriever and one Long Haired Dachshund. She is fantastic around infants, babies, toddlers, tweens teens, young adults, adults, senoirs etc. She is very territorial around the dog bowls, so segregated feeding I found neccessary. Her original owners could no longer give the proper love and attention she deserves due to the birth of a second child as well as a two year old. Lucy NEVER EVER bit, attacked, scratched, maimed hurt in anyway either of these children, or any children for that matter. She is a loveable, peaceful dog with much love. life yet to give. She currently resides with a full house consisting of a husband, wife, 4 children (11,12,13 and 14 year olds) and three dogs as mentioned before. Lucy has colitis. which limits her diet to soft foods. (Less)

Jack Russell Dogs can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. The Jack Russell Terrier is a witty, highly intelligent and trainable working dog. Jack Russells are cheeky, entertaining pets. Jack Russells do well with considerate children but do not like to be teased. Jack Russells need a dominant owner experienced in firm obedience training. The Jack Russell Terrier has strong hunting instincts and should not be trusted with small animals. This scrappy Terrier may fight with dogs with which he is not socialized from an early age. Jack Russells can live in an apartment but need plenty of exercise and do best with a yard. Jack Russells can climb and dig under fences, and need to be kept on a leash when walking.
