|Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00210Poppy (male)|
For those of you who follow our page, you'll probably remember Ginger the Diva. She was, shall we say, behaviorally challenged, but all she needed was the right home and family to thrive and to live up to her full potential. Meet Poppy, Ginger's long-lost brother. Not really, of course, but they are so much like each other that we suspect Ginger sent Poppy to us just to keep us on our toes. Thanks, Ginger. After a couple of trainer evaluations and a veterinary assessment, we believe that Poppy is ready to be adopted by someone who likes and knows how to work with dogs who, well, have an attitude. We sent Poppy off to live with Dr. Karlee Hondo-Rust for a while, and here are her notes: 'Poppy is an amazing dog! Please do not be fooled by his vocal behavior at the rescue. My family had the privilege of fostering Poppy and I must tell you he is a very different dog in a home environment. Poppy is house and kennel trained. We had zero accidents during his stay; When he needed to go, he ran to the door and let us know! He is also highly food motivated which has made training very easy. During his stay with my family, Poppy was pretty much a couch potato. His favorite activities were playing and cuddling with my toy rat terrier, Quarter. Reportedly, he had issues with visitors at his previous home (territorialism), but we did not experience this while he was in foster. Poppy is a typical small dog who thinks he's 180 pounds. He will do his best to be the alpha if his human family members are not up to the task of, 'commander and chief.' I believe that Poppy needs a home with experienced dog owners -- owners who have no issue with being the alpha of the pack. He will excel to his full potential in a home that is consistent with their schedule and expectations (rules). At my home there is a clear expectation of what is deemed appropriate behavior and Poppy had no issue with these expectations. I truly believe he is a dog that wants to win your approval (he doesn't want to be the alpha if he doesn't have to) and will do what it takes to get it. He would also do best in a home that consists of adults or adults and mature/older children.' An approximately 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier mix, Poppy is now waiting in our Rescue for the right person to come along and take him home. Is that you? *Please contact us for his adoption fee. |Rescue Me ID: 16-09-26-00613Hildy (female)|
Hildy is a very fun, loving, highly active dog. Loves toys, would be ideal for a competitive fly ball or agility home, or those who like to take long hikes, daily bike rides, or running. She is not an apartment dog, needs a large fenced back yard to run in daily. Will sleep in a crate at night. Has an excellent recall, knows sit and heal.

Jack Russell Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. The Jack Russell Terrier is a witty, highly intelligent and trainable working dog. Jack Russells are cheeky, entertaining pets. Jack Russells do well with considerate children but do not like to be teased. Jack Russells need a dominant owner experienced in firm obedience training. The Jack Russell Terrier has strong hunting instincts and should not be trusted with small animals. This scrappy Terrier may fight with dogs with which he is not socialized from an early age. Jack Russells can live in an apartment but need plenty of exercise and do best with a yard. Jack Russells can climb and dig under fences, and need to be kept on a leash when walking.
