Rescue Me ID: 14-04-04-00534Mortimer (male)

Jack Russell    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mortimer is a world traveling dog that has been with our international school teaching family for 13 years through time in the US, Mexico, Peru, and Malaysia. This year our family has taken a position in Beijing, China and there involves a 30 day quarrantine period which we are very concerned about since he is a senior. We're very heartbroken that we are having to look into a senior adoption option for him, but we feel like this is the best option for his happiness and health: To find a loving person or family to care for him for the next 2-4 years. We will be returning from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in late June 2014 with Mortimer (to ... (Read More)Chicagoland) and he will be transitioning into my mom's home for the interim or directly to your open and caring home. Unfortunately, my mom is a bit older and has a dog already, so she doesn't have the energy to fully care for Mortimer long term. Mortimer is a true Jack Russell, still with good energy for his age (he can walk 2-3 km at a time, even jog still). He is tempermental with other dogs out on walks, but has lived with other dogs his whole life and once accustomed, gets along well. Mortimer has lived with children most of his life as well without troubles. To be honest, at this stage in his life, he is well suited for someone who can provide love and attention. He is a great cuddler at night - he's slept at my knees or stomach for 13 years (I'll miss him dearly). He'll sit on the couch and snuggle during films, while enjoying long walks and exploring the neighborhood. He is still a terrier at heart, and we keep him crated or contained in a gated area while we are out of the house. In the end, he's an old guy with good energy, love, and an entertaining temperment in his senior years. My family hopes nothing more than to find a kind person or family to support him through these senior times with love. Thanks for your consideration. Once contacted through email, we'd be very happy to Skype and discuss the timing back to the US and the adoption possibilities. Best, Steven (Less)

Jack Russell    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ladybug is an adorable, bouncy, fun, playful and sweet, eight-year-old, ten-pound, female Jack Russell Terrier looking for a loving guardian. Ladybug gives kisses and rolls over for belly rubs. Due to her terrier natures, she's best in a home with adults - not small children. She is best as the one and only dog in the home, although she is good with select other dogs. She likes to chase and bark at cats. She was found as a stray in Schaumburg, Illinois, and never claimed at the local shelter. She's so small, that she's easy to pick up and carry around and cuddle with. She loves attention and will nudge your arm for petting and playtime. She ... (Read More)loves to play fetch, and will dance on her hind legs for treats! Ladybug is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. To meet and possibly adopt her, please contact Melia at or 708-224-1900. Her adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued dogs of Lucky Dog Rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-24-00472Grits (male)

Jack Russell    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Grits is the epitome of a Jack Russell Terrier. He is 9 years young, incredibly smart, very inquisitive, and loyal. He just wants to be someone's best friend. He is currently in a home with 3 dogs, 4 kids, and 1 cat. This house is simply too busy for him. He needs to be in an environment where he is an only dog, or with a female dog. He is very loving, loves all people, but does like to be the dominant dog. He needs to be stimulated through activities and exercise as most Jack Russells do. All vaccinations are up to date.

Jackson is a handsome, sweet, loyal, and affectionate, five-year-old, 22-pound, male Jack Russell Terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. Jackson was given up to Chicago Animal Care and Control. He looks like Jack Russell Terrier but has a long body and longer nose like a Dachshund. He was lucky to find a terrier-lover to bring him home as her foster dog. He loves all the other dogs in his foster home. He can sometimes be a little too rambunctious with cats. Jackson is extremely loving with those he knows and trusts. He gives tons of kisses and tail wags. However, he can be a little nervous and un-trusting with new people '| he needs a ... (Read More)little time to warm up and get comfy. He is crate-trained and 95% housebroken '| he needs a consistent schedule. And, he's great on walks and rides nicely in the car. Jackson knows the commands sit and down, but sometimes takes his treats a little too enthusiastically. He loves to sleep in bed with his foster family and snuggle under the covers. Jackson is looking for a family without young children who will be patient and continue his training. Jackson is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, de-wormed and heartworm-tested. To meet and possibly adopt him, please contact his foster mom Roxana at or 312-342-9006. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. He is being fostered In the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. (Less)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jack Russell/Black Labrador Mix Male dog 8.5 years old. He weighs around 25-30 pounds. My husband and I got Cooper when he was 6 months old and since then, we've started a family. Cooper is not a mean dog at all, but we feel he is not happy like he used to be since we started having kids 4 years ago. We had another baby in November. He likes to interact when other people come over, but it seems that with us he feels like he was replaced and favors to be around my husband more than anyone. We feel he would like to interact more with adults or older kids. We want someone to give him the love and attention he needs and deserves. He is a ... (Read More)trained dog and has no accidents in the house. He likes when he does receive attention from adults and loves to relax. This has been a tough decision for us, but we really feel that it is the best decision. Please contact me with serious inquiries. (Less)
