Rescue Me ID: 16-02-08-00199Spot (male)
Spot is a 10 month old JRT mix that was rescued from a hoarder/breeder. He is shy and can take some time to warm up to adults, but once he does, he is all in. He is initially aggressive with other dogs but, again, with time, can safely hang out and even play with other dogs, both male and female. He has chased my cats but is respectful of their 'correction'. He is fearful of small children but we've been working hard on counter conditioning and desensitization and he is getting better. That being said, he will need continual reinforcement to grow out of this fear. Spot loves to fetch and is very athletic. He is under 12 inches at the withers and would make a fabulous agility dog. He also loves to cuddle on the couch and sleeps with my teenage daughter. He has been in my home for 4 weeks and has really made great progress in his socialization skills. We crate him successfully when we are not home. He doesn't love it but also does not try to break out. He has mild separation anxiety, less so if he gets exercise daily. Spot is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and heart worm negative. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-11-00214Dude (male)
[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] I have had Dude since he was 7 weeks old. He's been a wonderful dog; however, his anxiety/ jealousy since the birth of my daughter has created major chaos in our home. I have tried exercise, essential oils, Rescue Remedy and other techniques, but he is anxious any time I am with my daughter. He does fine when I am not around and he is great with all people. He's very sweet and I wouldn't call it separation anxiety, but more jealous anxiety. My husband works full time and is in school and Can't find a moments peace in our home when we are all together. I can't complete my duties as a housewife, since I have to provide constant supervision between our daughter ( 10 months) and Dude. He isn't really incontinent, but he needs to be let out late at night and early in the morning or he might have an accident. He is deaf, but responds well to hand signals. My husband is at his wits end and I am afraid he will take him to the shelter, where I am sure a 13 year old JRT won't have a chance. Please help!! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-10-00308Joseph (male)
Joseph is a feisty, affectionate, quirky senior Jack Russell Terrier looking for a terrier-lover to make his dreams come true! Joseph has had quite the career here at ACL - he arrived as a stray, became very ill, recovered, and then finally began to show us his personality. Joe is 100% terrier - he is very spunky, smart, food-motivated, and he bonds intensely to certain people. He can get snappy when he's confused or agitated, so he's only suitable for adult homes. Joseph won't cause any damage, though - at heart, he's a lovebug. Joe is deaf, so he'll need a home that can work with that. He's very responsive, invested in people, and housebroken. Once he bonds to you, he loves you with his whole heart! Joseph is looking for a retirement home to take him on walks (he LOVES walks!), have scratch time, throw a squeaky toy around for a little bit, and then settle in for a nap. This boy is a staff favorite over here at ACL - please email Gabrielle at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an appointment to meet this special someone. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-08-00571Joseph (male)
Joseph is an adorable, deaf and feisty, ten-year-old, 25-pound, male Jack Russell Terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. Joseph is all terrier, and is looking for an experienced terrier-loving home. He loves his person, but takes a moment to warm up. He can be snappy when he's not pleased. He's very smart, knows how to sit on command and takes treats gently. He is extremely food-motivated; he loves his treats and he loves to go on walks. He is perfectly housebroken. Joseph warms up to most people, but prefers women to men, small dogs to big dogs. He is a deaf senior with a heart murmur and a bit of weakness in his back end. He is otherwise healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. His adoption fee of $75 benefits the rescued pets of Oak Park Animal Care League. To meet and possibly adopt him, please contact Gabrielle email@example.com or 708-848-8155. To meet and possibly adopt Jospeh or any of the other dogs, rabbits and cats at the Animal Care League shelter, please visit at 1011 Garfield, Oak Park, Illinois, Monday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 7:00 p.m. or Saturday & Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Less)

Jack Russell Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Jack Russell Terrier is a witty, highly intelligent and trainable working dog. Jack Russells are cheeky, entertaining pets. Jack Russells do well with considerate children but do not like to be teased. Jack Russells need a dominant owner experienced in firm obedience training. The Jack Russell Terrier has strong hunting instincts and should not be trusted with small animals. This scrappy Terrier may fight with dogs with which he is not socialized from an early age. Jack Russells can live in an apartment but need plenty of exercise and do best with a yard. Jack Russells can climb and dig under fences, and need to be kept on a leash when walking.
