Rescue Me ID: 14-06-11-00090Sarah (female)
I am moving north of the Arctic Circle. It is not in the best interest of my dog to take her along. I feel she would be better placed in a loving home in the Lower 48. Sarah was named after Sarah in the Bible. She is a loving and affectionate 12-year-old spayed female. She is papered but I don't have the papers any longer. Sarah has a microchip in her ear and is registered. She has a broken coat with brown around the ears. Sarah is an outdoor dog. She sleeps with a German Shepherd companion in a heated garage. She loves to come in the house, but because of allergies, she has had to stay outdoors. Sarah is trained to a radio collar and has been living in the country on five acres. She likes to ride on the tractor and the riding lawn mower with me. She is not afraid of anything ... except thunder. In a storm she crawls in small spaces and hides. Otherwise, she takes her job as a house protector and guest greeter seriously. She jumps straight up and down when she gets excited with a 'boing boing' type motion. Sarah has good manners; she does not enter the house unless invited, gets along well with her German Shepherd companion, and does not chase the horse. When she is off her radio collar, she enjoys chasing rabbits, going-to-ground like a true Jack Russell. She loves milk bones and rawhide chews. Sarah would make an excellent companion dog, family pet, or farm/ranch dog. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-07-00251Stella (female)
Stella is a sweet 1 yr old Catahoula mix (possibly Jack Russell?). She is current on all shots, including rabies, and was just spayed and microchipped on 6/6/2014 at Nixa Animal Hospital. She lives in a home with a female spayed 3 yr old boxer but unfortunately since Stella 'became a woman' the two dogs are fighting and are being kept in separate areas. Stella shows no aggression towards humans or the pet cat; it is just a matter of two alpha females that won't get along. The owner is a 100% disabled vet and cannot handle the dogs fighting. Stella is a sweet cuddler, good with kids and very healthy. A one-dog home would suit her well.

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-25-00557Trixie (female)
11 year old Jack Russell in perfect health. Currently lives with another dog and cat but would do best in a home without other pets or young children. We no longer feel comfortable with Trixie around our toddler. Unfortunately we do not have the resources to invest in behavioral therapy. Trixie would do great in a single-pet home with adults and teens! If not adopted by July 31st, Trixie will be euthanized. Please help find her a loving home!

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-05-00654Oz (male)
Approx DOB: 11/2006 Approx Weight: 15 lbs. Adoption Fee: $150 includes a 2 week trial to help ensure everyone's happiness! Oz is a Terrier mix who was released to Furry Kids by his family. When children started arriving in the family, Oz was very nervous around them. So, Oz came to Furry Kids to see if we could find him home without small children. Oz is a very playful, energetic, loving, and appears to be housebroken. You would never know that he has Medial patella luxation (MPL) in both back legs. MPL is a condition in which the patella (knee-cap) no longer glides within its natural groove (sulcus) in the femur, the upper bone of the knee joint. Due to his age, our vets have indicated that surgery to correct his legs would not benefit him. Oz doesn't show any indication of being in pain, but is he does, he can be given a vet approved painkiller, such as Rimadyl (or the generic Vetprofen). Oz has shown a great deal of interest in cats (actually, he's a little obsessed with them!), so it would be best for him to go to a home that didn't have cats. Oz has been neutered, heart worm tested negative, vaccinated, micro chipped. Please fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on 'Adopt A Dog' and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-12-22-00302Leonardo (male)
Approx DOB: 10/16/2008, Approx Wht: 26 lbs. $175 adoption fee includes a two week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Leonardo was rescued by a Good Samaritan, but she ended up not being able to keep him because her other dogs fought with him. He was bitten a couple of times by her dog, so for his safety, she contacted Furry Kids Refuge to see if we could take Leonardo. Leo was always the submissive one. Leo did learn to stand up for himself but it still didn't make him mean towards other dogs....he is just more wary and timid when he meets new furry friends. He just wants to play and have friends not fight. Leo is just a awesome furry kid. He is housebroke and crate trained.....BONUS !!!! He loves to go for car rides and rides like a little gentleman. He likes going on walks but definitely needs a harness (which we will provide) because he pulls a little and makes himself cough. He loves to snuggle with you whether on the couch or curled up in bed. He is well behaved in the house and not at all a yappy type dog. He barks when it matters. He has the cutest underbite when he smiles. Leo would do great at the dog park. Give this awesome furry kid a chance to enrich your life by filling out the application today. He will make most any family a wonderful companion. Leonardo has been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped. If you are interested in Leonardo, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. (Less)

Jack Russell Dogs can make good pets in Missouri if they match your IifestyIe. The Jack Russell Terrier is a witty, highly intelligent and trainable working dog. Jack Russells are cheeky, entertaining pets. Jack Russells do well with considerate children but do not like to be teased. Jack Russells need a dominant owner experienced in firm obedience training. The Jack Russell Terrier has strong hunting instincts and should not be trusted with small animals. This scrappy Terrier may fight with dogs with which he is not socialized from an early age. Jack Russells can live in an apartment but need plenty of exercise and do best with a yard. Jack Russells can climb and dig under fences, and need to be kept on a leash when walking.
