|Rescue Me ID: 18-05-11-00394Nikki (female)|
Nikki is a 2 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Jack Russell Terrier Mix, weighs 20lbs. She was rescued running along a busy highway in Dallas and has settled in well at her foster home. Nikki is high energy and loves running around and playing. She's very fast and needs a fenced in yard. She is also a herder, whether other pets or people. Once she determines you are part of her herd, she gets along well with everyone. Part of that herding instinct also means that she nips ankles. Nikki would be great with agility training! She needs a job and is incredibly smart, learning quickly. She has gotten better on a leash - she requires a harness because she tends to pull, as she is fascinated by smells and sounds. She will bark at people when walking around but once they are close she is not aggressive. She takes some warming up to as she can get overstimulated. Agility activities would focus her energy and intelligence. The more exercise she gets, the happier she is. Nicki loves to cuddle and instantly warms up to people who show her affection. She would do best in a quiet home with no young children, as she can sometimes get overwhelmed by too many people. She is up to date on her shots, spayed, has a microchip, and is 100% house trained. She was so very timid and fearful at first, and has made a miraculous turnaround to the sweet girl she is today. She is still very young, and she is very smart. In a home where she can get exercise, structure, attention, and a lot of love and patience, she will be a great family member. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 18-04-12-00335Spanky (male)|
This handsome little fellow is Spanky! He is a 10 week old male Rat Terrier Jack Russell mix. He is expected to be under 25lbs when he is full grown. He is super friendly and is very social. He loves to snuggle and wants to be with you at all times. He still has lots of puppy energy and loves to romp and play. He is such a little lover and he never turns down a good belly rub. He would make the perfect lap dog! Although he is great with children, due to his small size we are not comfortable placing him in a home with children under the age of 7. He would make a great addition to just about any family! He is currently located down South at our sister shelters and available for pre-adoption. We do transports to NJ once a month. He can't wait to find his forever home! (Less)

Jack Russell Dogs can make good pets in New Jersey if they match your IifestyIe. The Jack Russell Terrier is a witty, highly intelligent and trainable working dog. Jack Russells are cheeky, entertaining pets. Jack Russells do well with considerate children but do not like to be teased. Jack Russells need a dominant owner experienced in firm obedience training. The Jack Russell Terrier has strong hunting instincts and should not be trusted with small animals. This scrappy Terrier may fight with dogs with which he is not socialized from an early age. Jack Russells can live in an apartment but need plenty of exercise and do best with a yard. Jack Russells can climb and dig under fences, and need to be kept on a leash when walking.
