He is a very loving dog but at the same time very protective of loved ones. Would not recommend being around children and no cats. He is very energetic needs go for walks and have a fenced yard for him to run. He would be great for hunting. He is 3 years old. Would like to know how he is doing and for our daughter to see him time to time. She has a very close bond with him but she is an adult.

Animal ID: 10046088Sunny (female)
Sunny is available for adoption, but is in need of a foster home ASAP - can you help? Please see below for more information! Sunny is living proof that good things really DO come in small packages! This 5- to 6-year-old girl tips the scales at about 10 lbs., a perfect lap-dog size ... which is a good thing, because snuggling with her humans is what Sunny loves best. She's housetrained and never destructive when left at home, so her house manners are just perfect, too! Sunny was adopted a few months ago, and while she gets along wonderfully with her canine 'brother,' it turns out that she and the resident female dog are definitely not fond of one another :-( Their scuffles are becoming more serious, and although Sunny's 'mom' adores her, she wants to do what's best for the pups before one of them is seriously injured. So Sunny is looking for a new home where she'll be the only dog, or one with an easygoing male to be her buddy. She doesn't live with any children in her current home, but her adopter feels that sudden movements and things little kids might do (loud toys, jumping around, etc.) might make her nervous, so a child-free home would be preferred. (Older children - age 12 and up - might be fine, as long as they're gentle and respectful with dogs.) Sunny might be perfect for an older person or couple looking for a canine companion ... could that be you? http://almosthomedogrescue.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=10046088#prettyPhoto (Less)

Meet Trixie! She is a JTR mix who is about 15 pounds. Trixie was aged at 7 yrs old but could be younger. Trixie is a fun loving gal who likes to be on the move! She loves playing with other dogs and kids. Trixie needs lots of exercise, her ideal home would have a fenced in yard for her frolic and maybe another dog to play with. She is crate trained and house broken. She would love to find her forever home soon. If you would like to add Trixie to your family please put in an application for her.

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-16-00238Chester (male)
[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Chester has been our family pet for the past nine years. He is very youthful and loves to play catch, fetch, and chasing games. He has learned to adjust to our very busy schedule and will cuddle up quietly when we are away. He is great with kids and adults. He has lived with other dogs, but only does well with dogs his size or smaller, because he is an alpha male. We love Chester very much, but have recently had a difficult time both financially paying for dog sitters when we travel several weekends a month and having enough time to take him out for the walks he longs for, plus the exercise he needs as we live in a small apartment with a small yard. He is fully house broken, but we have noticed that because he is getting older, he is having a hard time holding in his pee, and needs to go out more often (about once every 2 hours). When we are home, he of course lets us know he must go out, so it's not really an issue. But when we are all gone during the day at work from 7am-6pm, or sometimes out for evening or weekend activities, he has a hard time holding it as long as he used to. Chester really needs a home with more space and a yard to be able to run free. We noticed he has seemed to be depressed and sad because of the amount of time he must stay home alone. Before, he used to be able to stay in a gated off hallway of the apartment which is fully carpeted. But now that he's been having accidents he must stay inside his crate while we are away, and it just makes him miserable. We really hope that we find a stable caring family for Chester who can love on him, as much as we have loved on him all these years. He is like our son, so we could not just drop him off anywhere. We want to know he will be cared for, because it's what he deserves. Would you please consider adopting Chester into your home? (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Jack Russell in Pennsylvania
Jack Russell Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. The Jack Russell Terrier is a witty, highly intelligent and trainable working dog. Jack Russells are cheeky, entertaining pets. Jack Russells do well with considerate children but do not like to be teased. Jack Russells need a dominant owner experienced in firm obedience training. The Jack Russell Terrier has strong hunting instincts and should not be trusted with small animals. This scrappy Terrier may fight with dogs with which he is not socialized from an early age. Jack Russells can live in an apartment but need plenty of exercise and do best with a yard. Jack Russells can climb and dig under fences, and need to be kept on a leash when walking.
