We saved this sweet 4-year-old girl a few months ago, minutes before she was euthanized, and she has shown her gratitude ever since. She LOVES all things outdoors (I've taken her with me biking, camping and swimming) and is perfect for anyone who needs a sporty furry friend to take along with them. She loves other dogs and is a complete snuggle animal. No such thing as personal space with this one! She's the best dog I've ever had off the leash, and I've never had to worry about her running off when we're on a trail or campsite. Both my boyfriend and I work 12-hour days and would love to find a home that could give her the attention she ... (Read More)needs. Missy has a medical condition that will require extra attention: megaesophagus. In short, her esophagus is stretched out, so food is not pushed down like it should be. The food instead will build up, sit there and be regurgitated if not properly treated. So far, we just keep her on a high quality dry food that we blend with water and feed her in an elevated food bowl. We also keep her water elevated. She very rarely regurgitates and has required no other medical attention. Additionally, Missy likes to chase our indoor cat. She means no harm, but the cat doesn't know that, so she may do best in a cat-free home. We will keep her if unable to find a family who can meet her needs, but she's an awesome, loving, humble little girl and just wants someone to give her more attention. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-04-00360Twinkie (female)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello- My name is Twinkie and I was picked up by some lovely good Samaritans when my owner no longer wanted me. I went to live with friends of theirs, but I didn't fit in because I like to chase their cats. So I wound up with my foster family through Massive to Mini Animal Rescue. I am about 4 years old, and I love to cuddle! I am skiddish, and cower a lot still but I am learning to be a good dog. I am crate trained, house trained, and I get along with other dogs once I become accustom to them. I am blind in one eye, but it doesnt slow me down. My foster family is taking me to see an eye specialist soon. Think I could be the girl ... (Read More)for you? Email my foster mom! PUPDATE: Twinkie would do best in a home with a yard, she LOVES to run around the back yard and chase squirrels. If she is in an unfenced yard she would need to remain on leash as she will run off to chase a squirrel or animal. Twinkie is blind in her left eye, but it doesn't slow her down one bit. She is fine with the dogs in our home (3 pugs/pug mixes), but would take time to adjust to another home with dogs. She loves to be with her foster family and sit right next to them, but doesn't have a lot to do with the other pups. (Less)

Meet Sebastian! Sebastian came to us a few months ago with his sister, Stella. They were both very feral. Sebastian LOVES other dogs and would make a great playmate for someone. He's housebroken and crate trained but, as of right now, doesn't like to be petted. He wants to be near his people and will take treats from you but, for now, that's about it. He needs someone that has a fenced in yard that can slowly work with him to trust people. Could that be you? Approximately 3-4 months old. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please go to www.virginiapawsforpits.org and fill out an adoption application.
