Animal ID: 1766Millie (female)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Millie is an adorable, scruffy Rat Terrier/Jack Russell mix, who weighs almost 10 lbs. and will turn 1 year old in September. She is a tiny bundle of happiness, bursting with playful energy and an eagerness to learn and grow. Millie was feral as a puppy and very emaciated when a nice neighbor took her in. The neighbor found her a home with a family, but Millie had trouble with the toddlers and young children in the home. Since Millie has come into her foster home filled with playful dogs and no children, she has absolutely blossomed! Millie is friendly, playful, and affectionate with people and insists on testing out the lap of every new ... (Read More)person she meets! She freely trades kisses for snuggles and scratches and does a happy dance any time treats are offered. Millie is also very friendly with dogs of all sizes, though older dogs are sometimes annoyed with her silly puppy antics, and a dog who is possessive of toys, food, or affection might consider her a pest. She gets along with cats, too, and learns quickly about their boundaries. Millie has good house manners and isn't destructive, though she is still learning not to jump on side tables. She is reliably house trained and happily goes into her crate for a treat, where she sleeps quietly throughout the night. Millie has recently discovered the joy of barking, and although she can be redirected with treats, she is probably not well suited for an apartment with thin walls. She walks well on leash but can sometimes feel insecure about it, so her forever home will need to be patient and willing to help her feel more confident when she is out and about. Millie is a resilient, joyful, hilarious little girl, who will bring smiles, love, and laughter to the right home. See more pics of Millie in her online album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/millie . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Millie, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 16-05-02-00690Jake (male)

Jack Russell    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis, Aggressive

Jake is an old guy who needs a quiet and not bustling environment. One, maybe two adults who are dog lovers and pretty experienced dog owners. No children or other dogs. Jake has never been good with strangers. He enjoys being lazy and actually can't handle too much walking.....a few short walks per week. He's used to being crated for 9-10 hours during the day. He LOVES attention but has aggression issues when he feels threatened, irritated or uncomfortable. We love Jake and have owned him all his life but are unable to keep him for many reasons. We just need to find him the right new home so he can enjoy his remaining years as a ... (Read More)happy, grumpy old man. We're trying our hardest to avoid our last option of euthanization but know that he needs nothing short of a special home in order to avoid that. I'd be happy to explain everything and anything if there are questions. His health is pretty good. He sees the vet once per year but I can't afford additional tests to diagnose things I'm suspicious he has like some arthritis and sporadic incontinence issues, though he is fully house trained. I will post pics in the next few days. (Less)

Before inquiring on Shaney and Miley, please note that we have a 100 mile radius adoption policy and we are located in New Richmond, WI. Please see our website for full details. www.ggohinc.com Shaney & Miley are mother and daughter and are very bonded; both have been residing at GGOH since 11/ 2009. These girls have been with GGOH since they were brought in from one of our rescue missions on a reservation in South Dakota. Shaney, Miley and Bandit (who has been adopted) were taken after they were found beaten, with broken jaws and multiple injuries. It was reported by persons on the reservation that Shaney and Bandit were trying to save ... (Read More)their puppies (who all perished) who were being beaten by some children and in their attempts, they were hit with baseball bats, breaking their jaws and Shaney's ear. It was heartbreaking to know they had suffered so much but it was heartwarming to know we were there and could get them out safely. Shaney, Miley and Bandit came to GGOH where they had to learn to trust and understand the world was not always a scary painful place. Miley was Bandit and Shaney's daughter from a previous birth so mom and daughter rely on each other heavily. Both love to go for walks and are great on their leashes. Love to snuggle and just be with you. They will need some time to adjust to a new environment but will do great with an individual or a family, with older children, who will give them love and patience. They are ok with cats but do have some issues with other dogs as they are afraid of them sometimes due to their beginnings, running among the packs. We know they are special souls who just need understanding and a peaceful place to call 'home'. Red Heeler mixes; approx. 6 1/2 and 5 1/2 yrs old (as of December 2014). Please don't overlook these wonderful pups ~ we know you would be happy with them, if you just gave them the chance they deserve. Please visit our website (www.ggohinc.com) for further information on our Fencing and Indoor Living policies as well as information regarding our adoption process. (Less)

Jack Russell Terriers are descended from fox terriers bred by Rev. John Russell in England in the early 1800s. Rev. Russell's Terrier, Trump, was depicted in a painting commissioned by Edward VII, Prince of Wales, who was a friend of the parson. Jack Russell Terriers are considered by some to be the most intelligent dog breed.
