Jack Russell    Age: Adult

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Jackson. He is a purebred Jack Russell Terrier that was rescued from a puppy mill when he was 2 yrs. old. The people who I adopted Jackson from are relatives to his original owners. I was told they had to teach Jackson how to walk when they got him because he was caged up all of the time in a small enclosure. Five years later one of the owners passed away and the other was incarcerated. The family members remaining did not wish to keep him so I found him here on this site. I adopted him no questions asked because he was about to be surrendered. I have had Jackson with me for 3 1/2 years now. To my dismay I cannot keep him. If I do he ... (Read More)will not have the best life possible for him. I have developed some serious back issues that limit my ability to care for him and take him for walks to get the exercise he needs. I'm also having trouble affording his vet visits and food. We have a backyard but I have to move now because after being here for 12 yrs I can no longer afford this house and must find an apartment. This means I'll either have to find someone to help me walk him or pay someone. That's out, I am on SSI now and my income is very limited. It's become hard to me to even afford pet food. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and his preventatives but I'm behind on bills paying for his vetting and the very old Shih Tzu I have. I'm going to have to keep her because she has heart problems and I know the change would likely do her in. About his personality... He is what is know as a 'Velcro Dog', lol! He will stick by your side wherever it is that you usually sit when you are relaxing. He doesn't necessarily follow you around unless he's really scared like, say, a thunderstorm, fireworks or other loud noises. He's basically a timid little fellow but loves his little toys and will be up for a game of tug-o-war/keep away (as long as it's on the couch with you). He used to be very skittish when we first got him and I don't know the details of his life during and after the puppy mill though I'm sure it played a part in it but..anyway, he's gotten sooo much better. He does need a chill atmosphere without a lot of commotion or sudden loud noises going on all of the time. Normal day to day life for most people who don't have tons of company and lot's of unexpected occurrences going on all around. I'm hoping an older couple or someone without children. He's fine around my grandkids age 1, 3, 5 and 9 but I've caught the 3 yr old smacking and teasing him so he's only ever nipped at him in the past. I just know he gets scared around kids because of the noise and commotion. That's just what kids do so without... That's the best family I'm thinking. Oh, and someone who's home more than they are gone. With that I'll just close by saying he's a snuggle bug and a lover. He likes to go under his blanket or a pillow too. He'll make the right person or persons a wonderful companion. Also I have a lot more pics of him if you'd like to see. Please contact me by phone or email if you are interested in Jackson! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-30-00719Sugar Cookie & Frankie (female)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

UPDATE!!!! Sugar Cookie is a 3 year old Chihuahua mix who is in love with her buddy Frankie! Frankie is a 6 year old Chihuahua who was returned to rescue through no fault of his own. After 8 months in foster care Sugar finally came out of her shell when Frankie came into the house. These two are completely bonded and must stay together. Sugar is shy at first but warms up to people within a few days. She is a fantastic snuggler who loves to hang out in your lap! Sugar Frankie is extremely friendly with people however he is afraid of larger dogs-when he first came into rescue he had been attacked and came to us with bite marks and broken ... (Read More)ribs so his fear is justified. Frankie has also earned the title of best kisser in the house! He loves to give tiny little smooches! These two love to play together and wrestle around-they also snuggle up with each other for naps. Their adoption fee is only $250 for the two of them so they can stay together! Both dogs would do best in a home with older children or no children at all due to their small size. Please contact their Foster Mom Shelly at 920-948-1494 or sbozich@gmail.com to meet this adorable pair! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-15-00305Jackson (male)

Jack Russell    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

For some time now I've been having extreme financial hardship and I am not able to afford the things Jackson needs to stay healthy. Right now he needs his annual heartworm test and his heartguard and flea/tick preventative. I cannot afford his annual check up that he is due for either. At some point he is going to need some dental care as well. Whatever vaccinations that will be due this year...can't afford it. The things that I've taken care of for him up to this point lately have been more than I can afford to take on. This coupled with some mental health issues I deal with make me think it's best if I try to find Jackson a home where he ... (Read More)can not only have the love he deserves but also the vet care he needs to remain healthy. JACKSON would do best in a home with kids over 12 as he becomes nervous around loud and sudden noises. He likes to spend most of his time snuggled up next to you sometimes under his blankie and sometimes not. He also loves walks, which I've not been able to do with him much due to my disabilities. He will play short games of tug-o-war with his little toys. He's a good boy and would make the perfect pet for the right person(s). (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-11-00164Shaney & Miley (female)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Before inquiring on Shaney and Miley, please note that we have a 100 mile radius adoption policy and we are located in New Richmond, WI. Please see our website for full details. www.ggohinc.com Shaney & Miley are mother and daughter and are very bonded; both have been residing at GGOH since 11/ 2009. These girls have been with GGOH since they were brought in from one of our rescue missions on a reservation in South Dakota. Shaney, Miley and Bandit (who has been adopted) were taken after they were found beaten, with broken jaws and multiple injuries. It was reported by persons on the reservation that Shaney and Bandit were trying to save ... (Read More)their puppies (who all perished) who were being beaten by some children and in their attempts, they were hit with baseball bats, breaking their jaws and Shaney's ear. It was heartbreaking to know they had suffered so much but it was heartwarming to know we were there and could get them out safely. Shaney, Miley and Bandit came to GGOH where they had to learn to trust and understand the world was not always a scary painful place. Miley was Bandit and Shaney's daughter from a previous birth so mom and daughter rely on each other heavily. Both love to go for walks and are great on their leashes. Love to snuggle and just be with you. They will need some time to adjust to a new environment but will do great with an individual or a family, with older children, who will give them love and patience. They are ok with cats but do have some issues with other dogs as they are afraid of them sometimes due to their beginnings, running among the packs. We know they are special souls who just need understanding and a peaceful place to call 'home'. Red Heeler mixes; approx. 6 1/2 and 5 1/2 yrs old (as of December 2014). Please don't overlook these wonderful pups ~ we know you would be happy with them, if you just gave them the chance they deserve. Please visit our website (www.ggohinc.com) for further information on our Fencing and Indoor Living policies as well as information regarding our adoption process. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-10-00638Petey (male)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Before inquiring on Petey, please note that we have a 100 mile adoption radius policy - please see our website for further details. www.ggohinc.com Petey is a male TERRIER MIX. This site's description says Jack Russell Terrier but he is not a small dog as one would think; we believe he is just a Terrier mix but this site will not allow a generic breed such as Terrier to be listed and the closest we can come to picking a breed is JRT. He may have a small percentage of JRT, but not much.) DOB is approximately June 2006. Petey is a darling little (if you call 32 lbs. little) guy who came to GGOH as an owner surrender. He likes people, is ... (Read More)fine with other dogs, cats are fine as well, and he does best with older kids who won't grab at him. Petey started out his life being someone's pet, then went to a rescue where he was adopted and had a home for several years and then sadly, had to enter our rescue. He has known love, only to have it taken away too many times. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and is micro-chipped. He does have some special food needs and over the counter medication for some allergies but he is well worth the companionship and love you will receive. Petey loves to go for long walks and is content just hanging out. Let's find the right forever home for this little guy soon!
